Introduction

A guided descent into the stories that shaped us—and the myths we are ready to rewrite.

This course is a guided descent into the underworld and reemergence as myth-maker, where (Peri)Menopause(Post)™ becomes not an ending, but a sacred initiation and luminous arrival. Through the alchemy of writing—descriptive, narrative, expository, persuasive—you will trace the psychic contours of midlife, dance with archetypes, descend into shadow, and rise bearing the myth that honors the wise Crone within, long exiled, now returning in full voice.

Writing My New Myth: A Journey through (Peri)Menopause(Post)™

11 Weeks of Archetypal Exploration, Embodied Insight, and Transformational Writing

This course is a mythic invitation to reimagine the (peri)menopausal journey as a sacred rite of passage. Through diverse and expressive writing forms—descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive—you will explore the psychic terrain of midlife, encounter inner archetypes, engage the shadow, and author a myth that honors the woman you are becoming.

Through the alchemy of writing and the power of myth, you’ll enter the liminal, meet the Crone within, and emerge as the Myth-Maker of your own becoming.

Each module offers a central theme from the heroine’s journey, a distinct writing style and genre, and reflective prompts grounded in body-based practices. With myth, metaphor, and memory as your guideposts, you’ll write your way through thresholds, underworlds, reclamations, and returns.

Writing your new myth isn’t just creative—it’s medicinal. As you give voice to the unspeakable and shape the formless, you generate insight, self-compassion, and clarity. You become the witness, the weaver, and the wisdom-keeper. This process can foster a deeper connection to your body, help release outdated identities, and affirm the emergent self who no longer fits into the old story. What you write becomes both map and mirror—a testament to your becoming and a guide for what lies ahead.

This is not simply a course in writing—it is a return to voice, a rewilding of self, and a ritual of remembrance. Your story is your power. Your pen is your torch. Let the myth begin.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What this writing Journey Offers You, the Seeker …

Your (Peri)Menopause(Post)™ journey is not a problem to fix, but a passage to honor. This course offers more than writing prompts—it’s a map for soul retrieval.

This is not a path of answers, but of revelations. Along the way, you’ll collect insight like river stones, language like firelight, and a voice shaped by your own becoming.

As you move through each module, you’ll gather insight, craft, and courage. You’ll explore the myth beneath your symptoms, the voice beneath your silence, and the self that’s been waiting to be written into being. This is where story becomes sanctuary—and your pen becomes a torch through the dark.

  • Rooted in myth and fairytale, this course guides you through the archetypal stages of transformation—descent, confrontation, emergence, and return—so you can recognize your own path as a myth worth telling.

  • You’ll explore and refine four foundational forms of expression—descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive—learning how each writing type can illuminate different aspects of your (Peri)Menopause(Post)™ journey and bring your inner voice into full, articulate form.

  • By engaging with figures such as Inanna, Demeter, Lilith, and Baba Yaga, you’ll discover how ancient feminine archetypes and symbolic landscapes offer insight into your own cycles of loss, power, rebellion, and rebirth.

  • Mind-body practices and optional goddess-inspired rituals help you root your writing in the body, so your transformation becomes not just conceptual, but cellular—lived and felt from within.

  • As you write your way through the thresholds of (Peri)Menopause(Post)™, you’ll gently reduce death anxiety, grieve what has passed, and begin to trust the natural rhythm of endings that give way to emergence.

MEET YOUR guide

Hi! HAllo! I’M Lisa.

I am excited you’re here! As the founder of The Feminine Threshold, I seek to create a gathering place for women crossing into the wild terrain of change—through grief, (Peri)Menopause(Post),™ and the awakenings of Middle Life.

As a depth psychotherapist, writer, and lifelong student of story and symbol, I weave myth, shadow work, and lived experience to help women remember what they already carry. My work honors transformation as both wound and wisdom, inviting each woman to pause at the threshold—to feel, to rest, to create—and to cross into her next becoming with courage and clarity.

course content

  • Welcome, writer. You are entering sacred territory—not just the (Peri)menopausal(Post) transition, but the mythic story unfolding beneath it. This course invites you to walk the threshold between the known and the unknown, using language as your lantern. Along the way, you’ll experiment with four foundational types of writing—descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive—each offering a unique path into your truth.

Module 01

  • As every heroine’s journey begins, so too does ours—with a threshold. Here, you are invited to release the roles, expectations, and identities that no longer fit. This week is a gentle entry point, asking: What story have you been living, and what are you crossing into now?

Module 02

  • This week you enter the underworld of the psyche—a descent into the realms of grief, rage, confusion, and lost selves. Here, we learn that shadow work is not about fixing, but about witnessing.

Module 03

  • The wild feminine has long been exiled—made silent, smooth, and small. This week, you begin reclaiming the senses, the cycles, and the instincts that have always been yours.

Module 04

  • Mythological figures offer mirrors for parts of the Self we’ve forgotten, rejected, or not yet grown into. Whose reflection connects you to a hidden aspect of Self?

Module 07

  • In this culminating module, you gather the wisdom gained from your journey and offer it outward—as insight, advocacy, or invitation. Through persuasive writing, you’ll craft a public declaration that names what you now know and speaks directly to those who need to hear it. Your voice becomes gift, guidance, and grounded truth.

Module 10

  • What if your symptoms were messengers? This week, you explore your physical and emotional experiences of (Peri)Menopause(Post)™ as a form of embodied myth-making—an inner oracle speaking in hormonal language.

Module 05

  • Dreams and symbols offer unexpected guidance. This week, you bring them to life on the page. What might emerge if your dream figures or inner archetypes could speak?

Module 08

  • In this final module, you gather all that has been revealed—your symbols, shadows, longings, and truths—and shape them into a cohesive myth that reflects the woman you are becoming. This is the work of integration: not to resolve everything, but to give it form and voice. Your New Myth becomes a living touchstone—crafted in your own language, born of your own becoming.

Module 11

  • Traditional archetypes often feel too narrow for modern lives. What if you could write beyond them—or blend them into new constellations of identity?

Module 06

  • This module invites you to reclaim the fierce power of your voice through the mythic structure of a feminist fairy tale. By writing yourself as the heroine of your own magic tale, you’ll transform silence into story, anger into agency, and “No” into a sacred act of self-definition.

Module 09

Do I need to show up live?
No. This is a fully asynchronous course designed for sacred solitude and spaciousness. If you opt-in, you’ll also receive access to six optional live “Ask Lisa Anything” video gatherings if you wish to deepen in real time with community.

How long do I have access to the materials?

Can I move at my own pace or is there a schedule?
Yes, you are encouraged to follow your own pace. Though the course is structured as an 11-week journey, you are free to linger in a module, revisit one you've completed, or take breaks when needed.

What platforms or tools will I need?
You’ll need an internet connection and access to a private course platform (details provided upon registration). Optional tools: a journal, art materials, a candle, and a quiet corner of your world to listen inward.

  • What kinds of practices are included in each module?
Each module weaves together readings, archetypal teachings, audio or video invitations, writing and art prompts, mindfulness practices, and optional goddess rituals. The materials are designed to engage mind, body, and soul.

Is this course only for women in menopause?
This course speaks to all who find themselves approaching, within, or beyond the terrain of Middle Life (40s, 50s, 60s)—however that lives in your body and psyche. Whether you are perimenopausal, menopausal, or postmenopausal, or seeking to understand your menopausal journey somewhere else in your life cycle, you are welcome.

    I’m not artistic / spiritual / a writer—will I still benefit?
Yes. This course is not about being artistic or spiritual “enough”—it’s about being willing to listen. The practices meet you where you are and invite gentle reflection. No prior experience in myth, art, or writing is needed.

What if I haven’t studied mythology or Jungian psychology before?
No prior study is required. Each archetype and mythic thread is introduced with care, and the language is meant to inspire—not intimidate. You’ll receive soulful guidance to walk with the symbols in your own way.

Will this course address the emotional challenges of midlife?
Yes. The course honors grief, rage, confusion, and longing as natural rites of passage. While it is not therapy, it offers a safe container for emotional depth, allowing you to hold what arises with compassion and archetypal perspective.

  • Is this course only for cisgender women?
The course is written through the lens of lived experience as a cisgender woman. That said, it draws on archetypes of the Feminine and may resonate with anyone who identifies with or is drawn to feminine midlife transformation. All are welcome who feel called.

What age range is this course designed for?
Most participants are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. The themes are universal for those navigating transitions, identity shifts, and the unraveling/reweaving that Middle Life often brings.

Can I join if I’m in my thirties or post-menopause?
Absolutely. The course is relevant for those who feel the stirrings of change—whether hormonal, emotional, spiritual, or psychological. There is no hard boundary around age or biology.

What if I’m grieving, newly divorced, or facing health issues?
Then you are right on time. This course honors the liminal, raw, and sacred transitions of life. It is designed as a gentle companion, not a performance. You can go slowly. You can bring your grief. You can rest here.

Not at this time. However, many participants find this work to be deeply enriching both personally and professionally.

  • What if I feel overwhelmed or emotionally tender right now?
Then you are not alone. This course is not about “getting it right” but about walking with what is. If you feel emotionally raw, you can go slowly, skip sections, or pause and return later. You are invited to move at the pace of trust.

    Does this course replace therapy?
This course is not therapy or counseling. It may pair beautifully with your therapeutic work with a psychotherapist or counselor. If you are in crisis, please seek support from a licensed mental health professional. Psychology Today is a useful tool for locating therapists in the United States.

How can I create a sacred space for this work at home?
Simple things matter: a candle, a journal, a quiet hour, a favorite chair, a cup of tea. You’ll receive suggestions for creating a threshold space that feels grounding, safe, and symbolic—a personal altar to your becoming.
